New Connecting Communities Project: Listening and LearningPosted on: January 21, 2014 Posted in: What's New
Connecting Communities is pleased to announce its newest project, Listening and Learning: A Community Legal Information Training Project, sponsored by the Thunder Bay Indian Friendship Centre and Kinna-aweya Legal Clinic.
Listening and Learning is a legal information training project for Aboriginal Elders and front line community workers to learn about income security and human rights in the Thunder Bay area.
This project recognizes the important role that Elders play as trusted intermediaries and will build the capacity of Elders actively involved in the Thunder Bay community. Elders will increase their effectiveness in being able to support community members regarding income support and human rights issues.
The project will build on the Elders’ Advisory Committee ‘Ma’am’ that has recently been created in the City of Thunder Bay.
