A Framework for the Law as it Affects Older Adults: Advancing Substantive Equality for Older Persons through Law, Policy and Practice

This Law Commission of Ontario (LCO) project was designed to create a framework related to policy, legislation, and activities involving older adults. This framework takes into account diversity among older adults, as well as both the advantages and challenges of aging. It assumes that older adults’ lives are affected by their experiences earlier in life, and these experiences will change for older adults in the future. Therefore, the framework is meant to evolve to allow its application under changing circumstances. The Law Commission wants the framework to advance equality for older adults and thus benefit society in general. This Final Report is based on consultation and research by the LCO and is a companion document to the Framework for the Law as It Affects Older Adults. The LCO will work to broadly disseminate the Report and framework and develop related plain language materials.
