Meaningful Change for Family Justice: Beyond Wise Words

The Family Justice Working Group explores the relationship between the adversarial and non-adversarial paradigms in this report, as well as the need for the family justice system to integrate and use non-adversarial, problem-solving values. They identify barriers to change such as limited resources available for the family justice system and an implementation gap in services. The working group contends that more work is needed to realize the potential of non-adversarial programs and consensual processes in family law. They see further culture change as critical to better access to family justice. This report makes nine recommendations related to the goal of making consensual dispute resolution values and processes more central the family justice system and offers a further 22 recommendations relating to diverse aspects of the system.
