Study on Access to the Justice System – Legal Aid

This report is a position paper calling for greater investments in legal aid funding across Canada, especially civil legal aid. The report indicates that Australian and US research has shown that for every dollar spent on legal aid, 6 public dollars are saved elsewhere, as savings related to enhanced legal aid and can be diverted to other health and social service areas. The report also calls for national benchmarks to be implemented to ensure equal delivery of justice to Canadians.
