In December 2017, The Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres and the Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) released a new whiteboard video 'Defending your human rights in Ontario – what you need to know'. The short (less than 5 minutes) and engaging video depicts Indigenous people in common scenarios of discrimination. It then lets them know that they can get culturally-specific help about human rights violations. The video talks about the services that HRLSC offers to all residents of Ontario who experience discrimination.

The video is related to a past Connecting Communities project: Provincial Aboriginal Human Rights Training Initiative. The project’s goal was to increase Indigenous awareness of the HRLSC, as very few people who identify as Indigenous were calling for help. Over the course of the Connecting project, the HRLSC’s Indigenous intake rose by 226 per cent.
